Questions to Ask Your Doctor
Questions to Ask Your Doctor
It’s often a good idea to write down any questions you have for your doctor in advance so you won't forget to ask them during your visit.
Some specific questions you might ask include:
- What is my diagnosis? What type of arthritis do I have?
- What is happening to my body as a result of my arthritis?
- What are my options to relieve symptoms (exercise, medication, alternative therapies)?
- What are my options to help slow/stop further joint damage?
- Is treatment with a biologic like REMICADE an option?
- What is the purpose of the treatment you suggest?
- How and when will this treatment make me feel better?
- What are the benefits and potential side effects of treatments?
- What should I do if I experience side effects?
- How is my arthritis likely to change in the future?
- What activities should I modify or avoid?
- What lifestyle changes should I make?
- Are there any self-help devices that can help me do my daily tasks more comfortably?
- When should I come back for a follow-up visit?
When asking your questions, make sure to have your doctor explain anything you don't understand.
